2023 Mazda 2 prices up again! Toyota Yaris and Suzuki Swift rival gets slightly more expensive

The refreshed Mazda2 went on sale last month, but prices have already been slightly increased.

Mazda Australia has nudged up the pricing of its Mazda2 hatch and sedan line-up just weeks after the updated 2023 line-up went on sale, and the same month deliveries are due to begin.

Though pricing for the refreshed line-up was announced back in late March, buyers signing on the dotted line today will be paying $120 more than before.

Mazda Australia has attributed this price increase to “the rise in raw material costs, shipping costs and currency fluctuations at present”.

It is also important to note that Mazda is not the only automotive brand passing on these incremental costs of doing business to the consumer, with Hyundai, Kia and Jeep also recently tweaking their pricing structure for certain models due to the same factors.

As such, the Mazda2 range now kicks off from $22,410 before on-road costs for the manual G15 Pure hatchback, rising to $24,410 for the automatic version.

The Mazda2 range tops out with the automatic G15 GT grade, available in both hatch and sedan form for the same price, positioned at $27,610.

All versions of the Mazda2 are powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

Specification remains the same with standard gear including coloured dashboard, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and a 7.0-inch multimedia touchscreen.

Moving up the grades will net buyers more features like 18-inch wheels, blacked-out exterior accents and a faux-carbon-fibre roof.

Being a Mazda however, a wide gamut of safety features is offered in every grade such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane-keep assist and a reversing camera with rear parking sensors, with traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors and a surround-view monitor available in higher trims.

Upfront of the Mazda2 is a 7.0-inch multimedia touchscreen.

As before, all versions of the Mazda2 are powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, outputting 82kW/144Nm to the front wheels.
