e-Powered up! 2024 Nissan Qashqai small SUV adds e-Power hybrid variant to line-up, priced to take on Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross

Nissan is adding a range-topper to its popular Qashqai range, with the brand’s e-Power hybrid drivetrain to become available in the small SUV following its addition to the X-Trail mid-size SUV range.

Priced from $51,590 before on-roads, the 2024 Nissan Qashqai Ti e-Power joins the rest of the range (with prices unchanged) and is available to reserve online at Nissan Australia's website from November 2.

As a Ti-level variant, it mimics the petrol-powered Ti variant in terms of specification - aside from the drivetrain of course.

This means it comes with features like a panoramic glass roof, quilted leather-accented seat trim, a 10.8-inch head-up display and a 12.3-inch driver display, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, electrically adjustable front seats with heating and massage function, plus features available in lower grades like parking sensors and a surround-view monitor, Nissan’s ProPILOT driver assistance with lane keep assist, adaptive high-beams and rain-sensing front wipers.

Under the surface is where the big changes lie, the Qashqai Ti e-Power uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine in conjunction with an electric motor for a combined system output of 140kW and 330Nm, driving the front wheels.

Nissan Australia Managing Director Adam Paterson told CarsGuide recently that the expectation for e-Power is that the X-Trail will lead the Qashqai on sales, but only because of their respective segments.

The Qashqai Ti e-Power wears a price tag of $51,590 before on-roads.

“Generally speaking, we believe that there will be more volume through X-Trail e-Power than there will be through Qashqai e-Power,” he said, “…. because the mid-sized SUV segment is a larger segment than the small SUV segment.

“As such, X-Trail will be a bigger volume seller, and therefore e-Power will be as well on that product, but we still think Qashqai e-Power will do quite well.”

Nissan says Qashqai e-Power vehicles reserved online will be built this year and delivered in quarter one, 2024.
