Prices up! 2024 Ford Transit Custom Sport van pricing and specifications locked in for the Blue Oval's Toyota HiAce and Hyundai Staria Load rival

All variants of the Transit Custom will run the same 2.0-litre turbocharged ‘EcoBlue Diesel’ engine.

Ford Australia has confirmed pricing for the new Sport grade of the Transit Custom mid-size van ahead of its arrival this year, alongside the already-confirmed Trend specification.

Starting from $56,590 before on-road costs for the base-model Ford Transit Custom Trend short wheelbase (SWB), the full line-up is now a simplified quartet consisting of the two trim levels - each available in SWB and long wheelbase (LWB), the latter in Double Cab guise for the Sport.

The Sport, confirmed today, starts from $59,990 before on-roads and features the same drivetrain as the Trend, a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine making 125kW and 390Nm, driving the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Ford Australia has confirmed the Sport variants have a GVM of 3025kg, resulting in 854kg of payload for the Transit Custom Double Cab.

Notably for the Double Cab, it’s able to carry five people (including driver) instead of the standard van’s three-person bench seat.

The Trend, however, comes with integrated roof racks which can carry 155kg, as well as an optional Secure Visibility Pack or  Load Space Air Conditioning for $1500 and $700 respectively.

While the latter is fairly self-explanatory, temperature control for the load space, the former is a pack that adds steel rear doors in lieu of the standard rear barn doors with windows, a metal bulkhead and a digital rearview mirror with integrated dash cam.

Ford says further specification for the Transit Custom Sport and Custom Sport Double Cab “will be announced closer to local arrivals in late Q3, 2024”, while the Trend was recently announced as expected for Q2.
