Lamborghini's new electric car concept has 'over one megawatt' and is a 'high ground-clearance' departure from tradition

The concept is a preview of a “purely-electric fourth series production Lamborghini”.

This is the precursor to the fourth addition to Lamborghini’s line-up, and its almost certain to upset the purists.

Not only is the Lamborghini Lanzador fully electric, but it’s also a crossover-style “high ground-clearance GT” with four seats.

Seemingly aiming even further towards everyday useability and practicality than the Urus V8 SUV, the Lanzador concept is part of the brand’s promise “towards decarbonization and electrification”.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said the car is the “concept for [Lamborghini’s] fourth production model”, hinting that it’s not far from what customers might expect from the brand’s eventual new offering.

“With Lanzador we are looking into our future without forgetting our DNA. The first coupés from Lamborghini with their front engines were sporty, elegant Gran Turismos suitable for everyday use as 2+2-seaters.”

While no official specifications in terms of range or output have been confirmed for the electric concept, the brand says it boasts “peak power of over one megawatt” and a “new generation high-performance battery” which ensures a long range.

“For us, electrification does not mean a restriction, but an intelligent opportunity to develop more performance and drivability,” said Lamborghini's Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr.

“Finding the right balance between power, performance, range and aerodynamics is certainly one of the biggest challenges during development, but challenge is a cornerstone within Lamborghini R&D.”
