The 40 greatest movie cars ever: survey

The iconic Aston Martin DB5 piloted by James Bond in 1964’s Goldfinger has been declared the greatest movie car of all time, according to a new UK survey.

The key term, of course, is UK; the 2000 respondents were unlikely to vote for the Mad Max Interceptor, were they? Either way, the DB5, which has appeared in six more Bond films in the years since - including 2015’s Spectre - topped the poll of the 40 Greatest Movie Cars.

It's also one of the most valuable classic cars available today. In fact, A DB5 from the 1990s' Bond movie GoldenEye just sold at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for a whopping 1.96 million pounds ($3.4m).

The survey was commissioned by Hyundai, a brand that didn't appear on the list. But executives are clearly hoping that will change, with a Veloster, a Santa Fe and a Kona all starring in the new Marvel film Ant-Man and The Wasp.

The Paragon Panther from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang secured a somewhat surprising second-pace finish, while the De Lorean from Back to The Future, Herbie (The Love Bug) and the new Batmobile from the Christopher Nolan-dircted trilogy round out the top five.
