This is the entry into BMW's new X2 range that corrects the relationship this coupe SUV had with its more sensible X1 sibling.
Fitted standard with all-wheel drive and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic for $75,900, before on-road costs, the xDrive20i is powered by BMW's 'B48' 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder developing 150kW and 300Nm.
That's plenty of punch for most who will find the xDrive20i's adaptively-damped ride very comfortable. It has light and accurate steering and plenty of talent on the road. Fuel consumption is reasonable, too, rated at 7.5L/100km in the ADR combined cycle.

You do compromise rear seat room by picking the more style-forward X2 over the X1 with those over six foot likely to be uncomfortable. The boot is bigger (at 560L) thanks to the X2 being 54mm longer than the X1.
The front cabin is brimming with technology including wireless smartphone connectivity, BMW's latest 'iDrive 9' operating system and connected navigation.
Features include 19-inch alloy wheels, M Sport kit, 'Veganza' synthetic leather upholstery, heated seats, 'Driving Assistant Professional', a power tailgate and adaptive LED headlights.
